In March, Crown Racing debuted their pair of rookie drivers, the father-son duo of Seth and Jace Bacon, or the “Bacon Boyz” as they like to be called, for the Blue Marble Radical Cup North America 2023 season at NOLA Motorsports Park. After dominating the competition in round one, fans and fellow competitors had their eyes on the duo going into round two this past weekend at Barber Motorsports Park.

Neither Seth nor Jace had even driven a lap on the 17-turn, 2.3-mile natural terrain road course before this weekend. However, that didn’t stop Jace Bacon from claiming his first podium on the Alabama rollercoaster.

“It’s going to be a steep learning curve for both Seth and Jace this weekend, since neither of them has set foot on this track before,” explained Team Manager Joey Martin going into the weekend. “They are a pair of more than capable drivers, so I have no concerns that they’ll be able to produce some decent results.”

After qualifying third, Jace Bacon ran two races without any luck of a podium finishing in sixth in race one, and fifth in race two. Building his momentum and confidence for race three, Jace was able to drive forward crossing the line in third and celebrated on the podium keeping his event podium streak alive.

“I found out pretty quickly that Barber is a tough track to make passes on,” expressed Jace. “I’m proud with a podium result having never driven on this track before. All of the tracks we will travel to this year I haven’t been on so there will be a big learning curve at each of them, but the team has given me a car capable of a podium in every race, so I’ll do my best to keep climbing to the top.”

Jace Bacon will return to the track this Saturday, May 6 in the last round of the APEX Motor Club Race Series which he has been dominating all season. Following that, he will return to the Blue Marble Radical Cup North America series at their next event June 15-18 at Road America alongside the NTT INDYCAR SERIES for the second time this season.
